"welcome to the dollhouse" has always been one of my favorite movies,
ever since i first rented it in 8th grade. i saw it with two friends who
can now recite the entire movie line for line.
and they are both boys.

this is a collaborative project based on ray johnson's mail art.
the idea is to make a drawing/collage/whatever, and send it off to someone,
and then they add on to it and send it on, and so on and so on.

for the show, i drew pictures of an imaginary book, drawing the text and illustrations in blue ballpoint. the result is vignettes of a story called "I Will Not Lie," which chronicles my adventures driving across the united states with rene and rocco. i created a space for the drawings with a reading area. i love reading and writing, and classic novels especially.
i am always interested in the relationship between drawing and writing, art and literature, and ways in which an artist can successfully incorporate text into visual art.

these are my first large scale ballpoint drawings.
they are recreated from very small photographs of people from my old neighborhood.
with these i was very interested in the relationship between foreground
and background information, and i was drawn to the subjects
because of their personalities.

these are some of my favorite projects!
i created these stop motion animations using a basic digital camera,
imovie, and lots of construction paper bits and drawing.
the first video here, dreamy, was created in a stream of consciousness,
ingesting pop culture references and childhood memories, then barfing them out.
